Children and teens go through complex changes. As they grow, they develop new abilities, attempt to stretch themselves, often challenge the beliefs and behaviors of their parents, and explore ways of establishing their own identities and independence.
While this is a normal and required stage of growth in order for them to one day live life on their own, it can be an extremely challenging time for parents. Though, outwardly, they may look like adults, inwardly, they are still learning and managing their emotions without the judgement that years of experience brings.
Family Counseling Service offers various programs for children and teens that target their specific needs, helps them improve their ability to think and problem solve in healthy ways, teaches them to better manage their thoughts and feelings, and helps them begin to think about the long-term results of the choices they make.
